One Stop Breast Clinic at Maidstone

Changes in your breasts don’t mean you have cancer. However, an appointment at the One Stop Breast Clinic can identify if there is a problem.

When you’re worried about your health, you need to find answers – fast. At GenesisCare’s One Stop Breast Clinic in Maidstone you can book a private appointment with one of our consultant breast surgeons. All of the necessary tests will be carried out on the same day all under one roof. Our consultants are supported by a whole team of healthcare professionals, including radiologists and breast nurse specialists.

Being Breast Aware

There are many reasons why you might have changes to your breasts. It doesn’t mean you have cancer, but if there is a problem, an early diagnosis can mean treatment is more likely to be successful.

Call us now to book an appointment if you’ve noticed any unusual breast changes:

  • A breast lump or breast pain
  • Armpit lumps or pain
  • Breast skin puckering or dimpling, or breast size changes
  • Breast discharge
  • Nipple inversion or nipple discharge
  • Redness or a rash on the skin including around the nipple

Triple assessment for a fast and accurate diagnosis

Our One Stop Breast Clinic in Maidstone includes a ‘triple assessment’ screening process to make sure you get a quick and accurate diagnosis. This includes:

    • 1. A consultation with a leading specialist breast surgeon. We have male and female surgeons, so please let us know if you have a preference
    • 2. Breast imaging, if required, including ultrasound and/or mammogram
    3. A biopsy (where a tiny sample of tissue is taken for analysis) if needed

Imaging and diagnostic procedures

We use the very latest diagnostic tests, including :

  • Breast ultrasound
  • Breast biopsy
  • Digital mammograms, including tomosynthesis (3D higher resolution) mammograms
  • Fine-needle aspiration cytology (to investigate lumps or masses in the breast)
  • A full breast genetic testing service to assess your genetic risk
  • Routine and specialised blood tests if required
  • Stereotactic biopsy

Also available at our Centre in Windsor, if needed we offer:

  • MRI breast and full body screening.
  • Detailed whole-body PET-CT scanning if needed.

Your imaging, mammogram and ultrasound results are available on the same day. And, if your consultant needs to take a biopsy, the results are usually available within five working days. Genetic testing takes a little longer – we’ll explain how this works if you would benefit from the test.

Be Breast Aware

Experiencing a change in your breasts doesn’t mean you have cancer. There could be many other explanations. However, it’s a good idea to have regular screening and to get checked out by a specialist if you notice anything different. The diagram below explains why, when, and how to examine your breasts so that you’re aware of any changes.
