Marco’s story – integrative cancer care contributed to my overall wellbeing

Marco is 56 years old and lives in Hampshire with his wife and their 15-year-old daughter. He moved to the UK from Chicago in 2017 and had planned to take a career break before finding a new position, but after being diagnosed with tonsil cancer in 2021 his plans were put on hold.
Following surgery, Marco chose to receive a course of chemoradiation at GenesisCare in Windsor which involved chemotherapy once a week and radiotherapy every weekday for 6 weeks.

Through our partnership, we’re able to offer patients appointments with Penny Brohn UK Wellbeing Consultants who will assess them holistically, give individual health and wellbeing advice, and help select a bespoke programme of specialist therapies such as reflexology, acupuncture, relaxation and mindfulness training, and counselling.

They also have an on-site gym and I was given a personalised exercise medicine programme which played an important part in my mental and physical health.
