Diagnostic breast clinics

Private breast care clinics

If you have a breast concern, we provide rapid access to a consultant breast surgeon and radiologist and complete diagnostic tests and scans at our one stop breast clinics. You’ll be given results of all breast imaging tests on the same day, and if a biopsy is required, you’ll receive the result within 5 days.

If you aren’t displaying any signs or symptoms of breast cancer but would like the reassurance of an additional mammogram alongside your usual NHS screening program, we also offer rapid access to a self-referral private mammogram from the age of 40.

Breast cancer symptoms

If you’re concerned about a lump in breast; breast pain or any change in your breasts, it’s essential to get checked as soon as possible to rule out anything serious which might need further investigation. While much rarer, it’s also important to be aware that men can also develop breast cancer and male breast cancer symptoms are the same as female breast cancer symptoms.

One stop breast clinics

If you are worried about any breast cancer symptoms, we can see you within as little as 24 hours at one of our comprehensive one stop breast clinics, where you can access:

  • A consultation and medical examination with a consultant breast surgeon
  • Breast imaging, which could be an ultrasound scan or mammogram
  • If additional imaging is required, a further MRI appointment can be made
  • If your imaging shows any irregularities, you’ll have a breast biopsy, where a tiny sample of cells is taken from your breast tissue for analysis

Fast results

  • During your appointment, your Consultant will provide you with the results of the imaging tests performed in the clinic
  • If you need a breast biopsy, your consultant will see you again within five days when the results will be ready to discuss with you

We use a full range of diagnostic techniques in our one stop breast clinics, which may include:

Breast imaging

  1. Breast ultrasound
  2. 2D mammogram
  3. 3D mammogram (tomosynthesis)

Breast biopsy

I was so relieved to be seen quickly and the staff at GenesisCare in Windsor helped me remain calm. I felt I was in the safest place for my care, which began quickly after my diagnosis.

Self-referral mammograms

If you’re over 40 and don’t have any signs or symptoms of breast cancer, but would like the reassurance of a private mammogram alongside your usual breast cancer screening, we can see you in as little as 24 hours at one of our breast clinics. Find out more here.

How often should you have a mammogram?

Breast screening is currently offered in the UK by the NHS every 3 years to all women between the ages of 50 and 71, to help identify breast cancers which might otherwise go undetected. At GenesisCare we offer mammography to women over the age of 40, who do not have symptoms of breast cancer, but would like additional reassurance from more regular imaging, within the maximum of one mammogram in a 12 month period.

Please note that this does not replace the NHS breast screening service, and women are encouraged to continue to attend these. Further information is available on the NHS Website

Private mammogram

At the appointment, you’ll have a mammogram (breast X-rays), which can identify breast cancer before any lumps are felt.

Your mammogram will be read by two consultant breast radiologists within 5 days, with results then posted to you

The One Stop Breast Clinic is unique in that you have three different teams working in sync
