Dr Ben Chua is a consultant Radiation Oncologist at GenesisCare Rockhampton. He qualified in medicine from the University of Queensland in 2007 and obtained his radiation oncology Fellowship in 2015 after training in Queensland and regional New South Wales.
He has an interest in head & neck, skin, central nervous system and haematological malignancies. He has undertaken a Fellowship in CNS and body stereotactic radiotherapy, and has been involved in the development and implementation of statewide stereotactic programs. He believes that all patients, including those in regional areas, should be able to access the highest standard of multidisciplinary care.
Dr Chua is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland with an active academic portfolio, including over $1.5m in competitive grant funding, involvement on multicentre clinical trials as a chairperson and principal investigator, publications in international medical journals, presentations at international meetings, and supervision of higher degree students.
He has recently been appointed as Reference Committee Co-Chair of eviQ, which sets radiation oncology practice standards and has an Australian and global readership of over 80 000 health professionals. He is an invited member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Co-Operative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO), and is involved in the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists as a member of the Radiation Oncology Research and Training and Assessment Reform committees.
