This is a randomised trial to determine how safe and effective (how well it works) Barrigel is when used to create space between the prostate and rectum to decrease the radiation dose and side effects to the rectum during radiation therapy treatment for prostate cancer.
To be considered for this study you must meet the following criteria:
- over 18 years of age
- Intend to receive definitive radiation therapy to the prostate
- Gleason score £7
- Prostate specific antigen (PSA) £20 ng/ml
Your Participation in this study will require you that have a CT/MRI pre and post fiducial insertion procedure. You will also be treated with radiotherapy, but this will be prescribed by your Radiation Oncologist. You will need to attend follow up appointments with your Radiation Oncologist every 3 months.
