We leave nothing to chance; your care will be designed for you with the team to ensure you receive the best possible outcomes.

Easy access to treatments and services

Accessing the treatments you need couldn’t be easier.

There’s no waiting list. Your treatment can start as quickly as required even on the same day if needed and usually within 5 days of referral. And even better, there’s no waiting each day you attend for treatment, our team will be ready to greet you and look after you so you can get back to doing the things you love to do.

You don’t have to have Bupa medical insurance to be treated at the Cromwell. We’re recognised by all the private medical insurers and we also offer a range of self-pay options. We can help with the paperwork too.

At the Cromwell Hospital we offer:

Radiotherapy

Our technology platform offers an integrated approach to radiotherapy, combining treatment planning, imaging and treatment delivery to precisely target a wide range of cancers.

How does it work?

We combine a number of techniques to treat your cancer, including:

  • Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), daily imaging to accurately target the treatment site
  • Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT)/ Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) – the most accurate forms of radiotherapy treatment available today

We also offer:

Partial Breast Irradiation (PBI) is suitable for low-risk patients and has significantly fewer side effects offering better cosmetic outcomes without compromising long-term clinical outcomes.

SpaceOAR Hydrogel – this implant can improve the short and long-term side-effects of prostate radiotherapy treatment. And is available to all men who would benefit at no additional cost.

Gamma Knife

Gamma Knife is a highly targeted and focused radiation treatment which is an alternative to invasive neurosurgery techniques used to treat tumours, vascular malformations and other abnormalities in the brain.

Gamma Knife radiosurgery concentrates radiation to both cancerous and non-cancerous tumours located within the brain, with the least effect on surrounding normal structures.

To ensure precision during radiosurgery the area to be treated is mapped using the latest diagnostic and neuro-imaging techniques. Everything is housed under one roof, meaning patients can be scanned, planned and treated in a single location.

Using the imaging information, the medical team delivers the optimal dose of radiation to the tumour with the smallest beams possible. The radiation is delivered through focused beams accurate to within 0.5mm, or the equivalent of a strand of human hair. This approach is only possible with the Gamma Knife technology.

The benefits of Gamma Knife surgery:

  • A surgical free approach
  • Same day treatment, complete scanning and treatment completed in a few hours
  • No need for overnight or multi day stays in hospital
  • No visible signs of treatment such as scars except in some cases some temporary hair loss
  • Very few side effects which are managed with minor medications
