GenesisCare employees raise £11,599 for Charity partner Penny Brohn UK

GenesisCare employees raise £11,599 for Charity partner Penny Brohn UK

Knowing that cancer can be an overwhelming and life-changing experience impacting much more than a patient’s physical health, we partner with national cancer charity Penny Brohn UK to provide a unique and evidence-informed approach to supporting patient’s emotional and physical wellbeing. During 2022, through a wave of activities, employees from across GenesisCare have raised funds so that more people can benefit from Penny Brohn’s support services. With the amount raised, over 300 people with cancer will have access a range of Penny Brohn UK treatments such as counselling, acupuncture, and reflexology, forming a crucial part of their cancer support.

GenesisCare’s UK General Manager, Justin Hely, headed the fundraising activity by taking on an enormous personal challenge of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats, on a gruelling ride of 980 miles in just 9 days. The whole organisation soon got behind him in a flurry of fundraising efforts spanning across their 14 centres including bake sales, bikeathons, raffles and prizes.

The IT team at GenesisCare were also keen to support fundraising through an initiative of selling off old hardware once the data had securely been erased.  This initiative not only raised thousands of pounds for Penny Brohn UK, but it also helps support a more sustainable environment by preventing items going to landfill.

Justin Hely, General Manger said “At GenesisCare we know that an integrative cancer care approach is proven to reduce cancer-related concerns. That’s why we offer exercise medicine and wellbeing services alongside the most advanced cancer treatments and latest innovations. This combination is designed to help patients achieve the best outcomes possible. I know our unique partnership with Penny Brohn UK means that our patients have free access to their services, and they tell us how they appreciate the emotional and psychological benefits that Penny Brohn UK provides. Through our fundraising, we are enabling many other people with cancer to also have access to and benefit from them”.

Andrew Hufford, Commercial Director at Penny Brohn UK, received the cheque on behalf of the charity. He said, “It is a challenging time for charities across the country, so to have the support of Justin and the whole team at GenesisCare is brilliant. This generous donation, and the ongoing support of GenesisCare, will allow Penny Brohn UK to continue to provide personalised cancer care for everybody with cancer. Thank you to everyone who raised funds and contributed to the overall total – you are all amazing!”
