Specialist breast oncologist in Surrey

Dr Nita Patel is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist in Surrey specialising in the treatment of breast cancer, with over 20 years of experience managing both primary and secondary disease.

She provides comprehensive, patient-centred care at GenesisCare in Surrey and Windsor, using a full range of treatment modalities, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted, and antibody-based treatments. As a clinical oncologist, she is uniquely able to deliver both systemic therapy and radiotherapy, helping to streamline care and reduce delays for patients.

Dr Patel has particular expertise in breast radiotherapy and is highly experienced in the use of advanced techniques designed to optimise treatment outcomes while minimising side effects. Her work focuses on reducing radiation exposure to surrounding organs such as the heart and lungs, ensuring safer and more effective treatment delivery.

She graduated with distinction from University College London Medical School in 2000. She completed her specialist training in Clinical Oncology at leading centres including Charing Cross Hospital, Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and University College London Hospital. Following this, she undertook a fellowship in prostate cancer at McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Dr Patel was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in 2014, where she works across St Luke’s Cancer Centre and Frimley Park Hospital as part of a multidisciplinary oncology team.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Patel is actively involved in clinical research. She is the Principal Investigator at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre for major national breast radiotherapy trials, including PARABLE and FAST-Forward Boost. Her research focuses on advancing breast cancer treatment and refining radiotherapy techniques to improve patient outcomes and reduce treatment-related toxicity.

Dr Patel is committed to delivering holistic, personalised care. She understands the wide-ranging impact of a breast cancer diagnosis, including concerns around body image, fertility, sexual health and menopause. She works closely with her patients to support informed decision-making, ensuring treatment plans are tailored to each individual’s needs and priorities.

As a female clinical oncologist, I understand that a breast cancer diagnosis can affect many aspects of a woman’s life, including body image, fertility, sexual health and menopause. I take a holistic, patient-centred approach, ensuring open and honest conversations so that each person feels supported and empowered to make the decisions that are right for them.
