Professor Adam Mead is a Consultant Haematologist and internationally recognised expert in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) and chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). Based at Oxford University Hospitals and the University of Oxford, he leads a specialist clinical and research team focused on developing better treatments for patients with blood cancers. I chose haematology as a career because it is at the forefront of the application of scientific research towards the provision of tailored, long-term care for patients.
