Overview

Dr Oguejiofor is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at University Hospital Southampton, specialising in genitourinary and head and neck cancers. His clinical expertise includes advanced radiotherapy techniques, including volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR), alongside systemic therapies for prostate cancer and immunotherapy for head and neck cancers.

He qualified at the University of Jos in Nigeria before completing an MRes and PhD at the University of Manchester, where his research at The Christie Hospital focused on HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer and tumour immunology. He trained in clinical oncology across Southampton, Portsmouth, and Poole, and completed a proton beam therapy fellowship at The Christie Hospital. He holds MRCP and FRCR qualifications and has over 15 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact oncology journals.

I was drawn to oncology by the unique combination of cutting-edge technology and deep human connection it demands. Cancer treatment is one of the few areas in medicine where you build a relationship with a patient over months or years, guiding them through some of the most difficult moments of their life while applying the most advanced radiotherapy and systemic treatments available. I chose to specialise in genitourinary and head and neck cancers because they offer the opportunity to combine precision radiotherapy techniques with the rapidly evolving fields of immunotherapy and targeted therapy.
