GenesisCare and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to form a first-of-its-kind national partnership delivering advanced cell therapies in blood cancers

GenesisCare, the UK’s leading independent cancer care provider, is proud to announce the development of a long-term partnership with teams at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) to launch a dedicated private patient service for advanced cellular therapies. This innovative programme, which is backed by a GenesisCare funded multimillion-pound mobilisation fund, is specifically designed for patients with complex haematological diseases, including myeloma and lymphoma, delivering breakthrough treatments such as CAR-T therapy and autologous stem cell transplants (ASCT) to insured and self-paying individuals.

This exclusive pathway bridges critical gaps in treatment availability, offering hope to patients who otherwise have limited options. Notably, the pathway provides rapid access to newly approved cell therapies, making the service a valuable addition to the UK’s healthcare landscape. The partnership is built on the philosophy of keeping patients out of hospital as much as possible, known as an ambulatory care pathway. This has proven to enhance the patient experience and reduce the cost of delivery.

Cambridge University Hospitals has one of the UK’s largest and most experienced facilities for the development and delivery of cell therapies, with capacity to provide both NHS and private care. The agreement will support the further development of CUH’s specialist capabilities and provides GenesisCare patients with access to the expertise in Cambridge, allowing them to receive the latest treatments from leading care teams.

GenesisCare is uniquely positioned with a national network of outpatient cancer centres to provide key elements of the ambulatory pathway and will collaborate with specialist teams in Cambridge for inpatient treatment.  

Furthermore, this pioneering agreement will be the first of its kind outside London to bring private access to cell therapies to an entire network of cancer centres. 

Patients accessing this new specialist service will benefit from the support of a dedicated cellular therapy team, including a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) throughout their treatment. The CNS will be the patients point of contact, offering expert guidance, emotional support, and help navigating the complexities of advanced cellular therapies. This expert led navigation will help patients throughout their cellular therapy treatment.

With this new service, GenesisCare is cementing its reputation as the UK’s foremost provider of premium oncology services, now extending to private cell & advanced therapies. CUH, renowned for its outstanding clinical outcomes and commitment to innovation, stands as a hallmark of quality and clinical excellence. As part of this service development, GenesisCare has established a national consortium of leading haematologists and a dedicated national haematology cell therapy multidisciplinary team– highly specialised groups that bring together key expertise, and a shared vision for shaping the future of cancer treatment. This bringing together of clinical excellence guarantees patients are cared for by the most experienced and knowledgeable specialists in the field.
