My passion for nursing started when I witnessed my family receive dignified, compassionate nursing care and I wanted to return the kindness, in an environment which allowed me to focus on patients and foster deep connections. Joining GenesisCare has allowed me to fulfill this wish and deliver patient care which is truly focussed on continuity of care in a warm and welcoming environment, and which also gives me the opportunity to progress and develop my career. 

I joined as a senior chemotherapy nurse and was promoted to lead chemotherapy nurse. Here at GenesisCare, we’re a supportive family, collaborating within a well-established multidisciplinary team. I work closely with consultants and pharmacists and our communication network is seamless, allowing us to make the best decisions for our patients. This collaboration also opens up learning opportunities.

For example, a patient recently presented to me with intense back discomfort. After consulting with their clinician, I arranged an MRI scan which revealed disease in their bone. Subsequently, the patient underwent radiotherapy, resulting in complete relief from pain. Having the opportunity to have input into patient pathways is really rewarding.

With support from GenesisCare, I’ve completed an advanced nurse practitioner masters degree, which led to my role today as GenesisCare’s first Principle SACT Nurse.  I’m also the resuscitation lead for GenesisCare and chair the GenesisCare resuscitation committee, where I’m responsible for compliance, and training and development including resuscitation simulations and workshops.
