Clinical interest in prostate cancer.
Professor Thomas Eade returned to Australia in January 2007, after time spent working as the Thomas Baker Fellow at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, USA. Fox Chase, which specialises in the treatment of prostate cancer, is one of the leading Radiation Oncology Centres in the USA. While in America, Thomas trained in various radiation therapy techniques, including IMRT, intraoperative real-time seed brachytherapy, and high dose rate brachytherapy.
Prof Eade has extensive experience in the utilisation of multi-modalities of radiation therapy for the treatment of prostate cancer. He is a regular guest speaker at state, national, and international meetings about modern radiation treatment techniques.
In addition to his dedicated patient care and outcome focus, Prof Eade is a committed researcher. He is the Director of Research in the Northern Sydney Cancer Centre, and also developed the prospective database for prostate cancer radiotherapy, which is in use across the North Shore and Central Coast campuses. Prof Eade has also authored a range of articles about types of prostate cancer treatment, and these have been published in international oncology journals.
