Doors now open to advanced GenesisCare Cancer Care Centre in South Terrace, Adelaide
Adelaide, SOUTH AUSTRALIA – Politicians, doctors, and key community members will gather later today (Wednesday, November 8, 2023) for the opening of GenesisCare’s advanced cancer care centre at 337 South Terrace, Adelaide.

The GenesisCare cancer care centre, forming part of a new, $80 million, St Andrew’s Hospital ‘green’ cancer care precinct, features two, 1,800-tonne, steel insulated, radiation bunkers, and modern radiation therapy technology, catering to South Australians living with cancer.

As the largest private provider of integrated cancer care in South Australia, GenesisCare aims to offer modern and innovative techniques and technologies to achieve the best possible health outcomes for people living with cancer.

Senior Radiation Oncologist at GenesisCare, South Australia, Dr Marcus Dreosti, said he is delighted to be offering access to high-quality care for South Australians living with cancer at the new, integrated cancer care centre.

“I am thrilled to be part of the opening of the new GenesisCare centre in South Australia, and to be offering modern radiation technology to help treat locals living with cancer.

“The new cancer care centre offers more South Australians access to personalised treatments in the one location. Once the precinct is fully operational it will also offer holistic support throughout all stages of the cancer treatment journey,” said Dr Dreosti.

The GenesisCare cancer care centre offers radiation therapy services and treatment for most cancer types, with other healthcare providers in the precinct also expected to offer imaging, surgery, access to clinical trials for appropriate patients, and wellness services under the one roof.

GenesisCare General Manager in South Australia, Mr Duy Tran, said: “We are excited to be building on our long history of providing high-quality oncology services to South Australian cancer patients, spanning more than 30 years.

“Our investment in this new service also highlights our commitment to improving the patient experience, through our co-location with other healthcare providers and initiatives designed to make it easier for patients to physically access their treatment,” Mr Duy Tran said.

GenesisCare offers patients free on-site parking, and access to complimentary transport to and from the centre for eligible regional cancer patients staying at the Cancer Council Greenhill Lodge throughout their treatment.

“We are also proud to be based in a precinct with a 5 Star Green Star building rating, which represents environmentally sustainable building practices,” said Mr Tran.

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Chris Picton said the new GenesisCare cancer centre will complement the services offered to cancer patients in the public system.

“It’s great to have a cutting-edge cancer centre like this that will provide a high quality of care for South Australians who are living with cancer,” Minister Picton said.

“The State Government is currently developing a new five-year SA Cancer Plan, the state’s first cancer plan since 2015, which the important work of research and clinical trials in SA will be an important part.”

Housed on level one of the three-storey, South Terrace building, the cancer care precinct is on track to offer South Australians affected by cancer access to diagnostics services, radiation oncology, surgical, and medical oncology consulting, and allied health once fully operational in early 2024.

The precinct, developed by Cambridge Medical Property, will include services provided by St Andrew’s Hospital, GenesisCare, Jones Radiology, Waverley Vascular Group and Clinpath Pathology. Jones Radiology, Waverley Vascular Group, and Clinpath Pathology are marking their official opening at tonight’s event, alongside GenesisCare.

CEO of Jones Radiology, Professor Susan O’Neill, expressed her passion for offering high quality radiology services to those in Adelaide.

“We are passionate about delivering high quality radiology services with a focus on Oncology and Women’s Health.  To be able to do this in a purpose-built centre alongside likeminded healthcare providers assists us to provide exemplary patient care.”
