As our Clinical Director of Stereotactic Radiotherapy, Dr James Good is a national leader in innovative cancer treatment.
Dr Good is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a focus on cutting edge, personalised treatment of gastrointestinal cancer using chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. This includes cancers of the colon, rectum, liver and pancreas. He also has extensive experience of treating oligometastatic secondary tumours in liver, lung, bone, spine and lymph node, and in retreatment of cancer previously targeted with radiotherapy.
He has shaped GenesisCare’s role as the leading independent provider of stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR/SBRT). Through a short course of highly targeted therapy, SABR can change the outlook for people with advanced and inoperable tumours. Central to this has been the implementation of MRI-guided radiotherapy in our centres in Oxford, London and Surrey. This technique offers the most advanced treatment in the world for inoperable pancreatic cancer and other hard-to-treat tumours.
With over 20 years experience as a doctor, Dr Good understands the importance of clear and compassionate communication alongside technical expertise. He believes in the importance of integrating lifestyle measures and supportive care alongside cancer treatment, and his patients tell him they value his warm, honest and pragmatic approach.
After training as a scientist at Cambridge University, Dr Good trained in medicine at University College, London. Following further clinical training in London and Oxford he spent six years at the Royal Marsden and Guy’s Hospitals developing expertise in cancer medicine. He now divides his time between his work in Birmingham and Oxford, and family life in Worcestershire.
