Throughout his career, Mr. Charlesworth has consistently pushed the boundaries and sought to improve outcomes through innovative surgical techniques and a commitment to minimally invasive procedures. Notably, he has developed and implemented Retzius-sparing (continence sparing) and nerve-sparing techniques (frozen section), in robotic prostatectomy. With over 1500 successful complex cancer surgeries, Mr Charlesworth is recognised as one of the leading robotic pelvic cancer surgeons in the UK.

Through his position as a consultant at The Royal Berkshire Hospital, Mr. Charlesworth has played a crucial role in the development and expansion of robotic cystectomy & robotic pelvic oncology worldwide. His extensive practice and passion for education have attracted international fellows from Australia, the Caribbean, and Israel, who have gone on to establish their own minimally invasive robotic pelvic oncology practices.

Mr. Charlesworth began his medical training at the University of Southampton (1995-2000) and pursued a post-graduate degree at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford, specialising in molecular genetics related to urological malignancies (2004-2007)

His surgical training encompassed experience in general, transplant, and vascular surgery at NHS and military hospitals on the South Coast of the UK (2000-2004). He further developed his skills in robotic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, open surgery for major urological cancers, and surgical reconstruction (2004-2012).

Throughout his career, Mr. Charlesworth has collaborated with esteemed robotic surgical teams worldwide, including Regina Elena Hospital, National Cancer Institute in Rome, Italy, Harlev University Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.
