We’re excited to be included in the ITN Business programme ‘Shaping the Future of Cancer Care’ released on World Cancer Day 4 February 2024, with our GenesisCare experts sharing details of innovative and personalised cancer treatments which can positively impact on patient quality of life, life expectancy and overall survival. 

With millions affected by cancer every year globally, and one person diagnosed every two minutes in the UK, it’s encouraging to see survival rates have doubled over the last 40 years, due to ground-breaking research and technology and the increase in personalised treatments which are specific to the individual and their cancer. The programme highlights the work of organisations such as ours, dedicated to ensuring patients have access to world-class, highly effective treatment options.

Shaping the Future of Cancer Care - ITN Business

During the programme, our experts explain how innovative treatments are shaping the future of cancer care including:

  • Diagnostic imaging for brain tumours to ensure brain function and quality of life is retained, delivered by Professor Puneet Plaha   
  • The use of advanced MRI-guided radiotherapy for difficult-to-treat cancers such as pancreatic cancer, explained by Dr James Good
  • How Theranostics, a search and destroy nuclear medicine technique for patients with advanced prostate cancer, can help where other treatments have stopped working, discussed by Dr Carla Perna and
  • How cellular therapies for blood cancer patients work in allowing the re-engineering of a person’s own cells to fight the cancer, from Professor Graham Collins
