February 2026

GenesisCare is delighted to announce plans for a new Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) centre in Royal Tunbridge Wells. This significant development forms part of GenesisCare’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to high-quality cancer care across the UK, including Kent. This builds on more than a decade of success operating a comprehensive oncology centre, with radiotherapy, systemic therapy and diagnostic services in Maidstone since 2015.

The new centre in Royal Tunbridge Wells, which will open in Autumn 2026, represents the latest phase in GenesisCare’s continued expansion of SACT services.  It is designed to deliver a full range of essential cancer treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and cellular therapy in a modern, purpose-built environment.

By bringing state-of-the-art cancer care closer to home, the new facility will improve accessibility for patients and their families, across West Kent and the wider South East, reducing travel times and supporting a better overall treatment experience and responds to requests from local clinicians.

GenesisCare has built the largest family of oncologists in the UK and has an ethos of being a clinician-led organisation.  This new centre exemplifies that approach as it has been driven by the insight and dedication of GenesisCare’s expert clinicians, including Dr Russell Burcombe, Consultant Clinical Oncologist who said:  “Having treated patients at GenesisCare in Maidstone since the centre opened more than ten years ago, I have seen how first-rate cancer care can be delivered in a specialist setting that puts patients at the centre of everything we do. The prospect of now being able to offer that same high standard of care to patients across West Kent, closer to where they live, is exciting”

As part of this new initiative, GenesisCare also welcomes the highly respected and renowned Consultant Haematologist, Dr Joel Newman, who will also play a pivotal role in the new centre. Dr Newman is widely recognised for his extensive expertise in treating a broad spectrum of haematological conditions, including leukaemia, myeloma and lymphoma, and he currently cares for patients from across Kent and the South East of England.

Commenting on the development, Dr Newman said, “Joining GenesisCare and their established national team of Consultant Haematologists is really exciting. Leveraging that collective expertise is important for me and I’m looking forward to offering cutting edge therapies to the patients I treat across the South East of England.

The new centre will not only provide access to the latest systemic anti-cancer therapies, but also to advanced supportive technologies such as Hilotherm, a device that helps to reduce treatment-related side effects. Just as importantly, patients will benefit from integrated wellbeing support and access to exercise medicine within a specialist cancer centre, recognising the vital role that physical and emotional wellbeing play throughout cancer treatment and recovery.

Currently, many patients in the region face lengthy journeys to receive SACT at GenesisCare’s centre in Maidstone, highlighting the clear need for improved local access. The new facility in Royal Tunbridge Wells aims to address this, while maintaining GenesisCare’s focus on personalised, high-quality cancer care.

GenesisCare has further expansion plans for its world-leading and pioneering cancer services throughout the UK and will be issuing further statements in due course.
