‘Outstanding’ Care Quality Commission rating for GenesisCare’s Maidstone centre

Thursday August 8th
  • GenesisCare has been awarded an overall Outstanding rating for its highly individualised and effective cancer patient care and treatment
  • The inspectors noted that patients were offered excellent personalised care and emotional support including complementary therapy and relaxation sessions
  • The CQC rating also identified the exceptional staff at GenesisCare in Maidstone

We are really pleased to announce that our Maidstone centre has been rated Outstanding in a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection. The Outstanding rating, published in the CQC report, is based on an inspection of  the centre on 8 May 2019. The inspectors’ assessment was in the five core CQC domains to ensure people receive safe, effective and high-quality care from providers.

The CQC inspection specifically evaluated key services: outpatient consultation, diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy and medical care such as chemotherapy. The overall rating of Outstanding, highlights the highly individualised care for patients and the equally positive staff culture. In particular, patient feedback confirmed they were treated with kindness and highlighted continued personalised and emotional support, in part due to flexible appointment times, complementary transport and wellbeing services including therapy and relaxation sessions delivered through our partnership with Penny Brohn UK.

Richard Schorstein, Maidstone Centre Leader, said: “Our patients are given the best local personalised treatment, care and experience. The CQC Outstanding rating reflects the Maidstone team’s dedication to delivering better outcomes to our patients. I am very proud to lead such a great team who go the extra mile every day.”

Dr Russell Burcombe, Consultant Oncologist and Clinical Lead, said: “I see dedicated staff providing an outstanding service every time I am at the Maidstone centre and I’m so delighted that their professionalism, care for patients and hard work have been recognised.”
