Helping your body during and after cancer treatment

Exercise during and following cancer treatment provides many benefits to cancer survivors.  Exercise has been proven scientifically to reduce the impact of cancer symptoms and treatment related side-effects, including fatigue and nausea.  Muscle mass and bone mineral density, which can be greatly affected by some cancer treatments, can be maintained or even increased with exercise.  Exercise can also improve immune function, cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility and mood. Ongoing research is also demonstrating that exercise may have an impact on survival and disease recurrence, and this is currently being investigated further.
