Biography
Clinical interest in Gastrointestinal oncology, translational research
Stephanie completed her MBBS in 2006, following a BMedSci degree at University of Sydney. She completed medical oncology specialist training in 2012 (FRACP) and was awarded her PhD focusing on rectal cancer in 2017. She has been a medical oncology staff specialist at Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre since 2016, and is also an honorary research fellow at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research and a conjoint senior lecturer at Western Sydney University.
Stephanie’s subspeciality interest is in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, and her patient approach is evidence-based, holistic and empathetic. She attends the colorectal and upper gastrointestinal (GI) cancer multidisciplinary meetings.
Stephanie has published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers in the field of oncology and has presented in international and national conferences. Her research interests encompass liquid biopsy and biomarker translational research. She is also involved in clinical trials as well as curation of clinical databases and registries. Stephanie is active in teaching, including supervision of higher degree students, and is a regular reviewer for peer-reviewed journals.
Outside of work, she enjoys painting, is an avid baker, and has three kids.

Stephanie's research interests are in gastrointestinal (GI) cancer, in particular colorectal cancer. Her PhD was on the investigation of 'Biomarker changes during chemoradiation in locally advanced rectal cancer'. She is part of the medical oncology group at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research. Current research projects include the investigation of circulating tumour RNA in rectal cancer, biomarker investigation to predict treatment response and prognosis in colorectal cancer, and clinical outcomes in colorectal cancer based on data from a national registry.
