“The grant from the GenesisCare Foundation allowed me to focus on my wellbeing and not on financial worries.
One of the first small grants recipients, Rhonda, a patient from rural Victoria, received the grant and found it a wonderful help in covering the additional expenses incurred during the period of her treatment in Melbourne.
“The grant from the GenesisCare Foundation allowed me to focus on my wellbeing and not on financial worries. Hearing that the program had been made possible by a patient made me feel very grateful and connected to a person who had been through the same experience and had thought about how they could support others.”
“The additional costs of undergoing treatment for rural patients is considerable, not to mention the emotional cost of being away from family and friends for a number of weeks – the Small Grants Program by GenesisCare Foundation is making it possible for patients to have one less thing on their mind.”

The Small Grants program was made possible by a head & neck cancer patient who held a fundraiser for the GenesisCare Foundation. His wish was for the donation to support other patients at St. Vincent’s, Melbourne going through a similar journey as his, but who were struggling financially to support themselves during this difficult time. The grant supports the costs of travel, food, and medication.
With the program attracting the interest of other patient donors and doctors across Australia, the Small Grants Program is currently being scaled state-wide to allow those wanting to support their own centre and local community to be able to do so.
