GenesisCare’s radiation therapy centre takes shape in Werribee as $5 million cancer-fighting equipment installed
St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Werribee Acting General Manager and Director of Clinical Services, Warren Fowler, said: “St Vincent’s has grown to become a trusted healthcare partner for families in the west, and we’re proud to support expanded cancer treatment services so our community can access high-quality care right here, where they live.”
“The addition of radiation therapy will strengthen St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Werribee’s cancer care, offering for local patients, making it one of the most comprehensive oncology services in Melbourne’s western region.”
The new linear accelerator machine weighs nine tonnes or about the same as a large male elephant and was brought into the centre with a crane and a team of experts in radiation therapy equipment delivery.
GenesisCare’s new development aims to help meet the current and future demand for radiation therapy in Werribee, located in Wyndham, one of Australia’s fastest growing municipalities.
