Welcome to GenesisCare North Sydney (Mater Hospital). We deliver advanced radiation therapy with fast access, modern technology and specialist-led cancer care.
Located within Mater Hospital on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, our centre delivers evidence-based cancer care using advanced radiation therapy technology. Our experienced team focuses on achieving the best possible clinical outcomes, with access to allied health support as needed.
Our treatments and services
Radiation Oncology
Radiation therapy uses high-energy X-rays to treat cancer and can be used across many stages of care. We offer a comprehensive range of techniques, including:
- External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT)
- Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
- Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT)
- Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) for left-sided breast cancer
- Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR)
- Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT)
- Tattoo-free breast radiation therapy
- Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
as well as non-surgical treatment options for skin cancer.
Allied Health Services
Patients have access to a range of allied health services at Mater Hospital, tailored to support them throughout treatment. Your care team will guide you on the most appropriate services, which may include:
- Dietetics
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational therapy
- Speech pathology
- Social work
- Psychological support
- Pastoral care
Exercise Therapy
Exercise can support people during cancer treatment. Where appropriate, tailored programs combining aerobic and resistance training may be recommended. Speak with your care team for guidance.
Patient access program
The Patient Access Program supports eligible Northern Beaches patients receiving treatment at Mater Hospital.
This may include:
- Full radiation therapy treatment course
- CT scan
- Personalised treatment plan
- Initial consultation with a radiation oncologist
Transport support
Transport assistance may be available for eligible patients travelling from the Northern Beaches to GenesisCare North Sydney (Mater Hospital). This includes access to Uber transport services to support travel to and from treatment. Please speak with the team to confirm eligibility.
Rural and remote patient package
At GenesisCare North Sydney (Mater Hospital), we offer tailored support for patients travelling from regional and remote areas to receive treatment at this centre. Speak with the team to discuss available support options.
Designated parking is available in the Mater Hospital for a small capped fee. Entry is located off 25 Rocklands Road. Additional parking is available in the Poche Centre car park, fees apply.
We are a 2-minute walk from bus stops on the Pacific Highway. We are a 10-minute walk from St Leonards, Wollstonecraft and Waverton train stations.
