Overview

GenesisCare, Peninsula Private Hospital offers patients access to oncology services including radiation therapy, allied health support (via referral to Ramsay Health Care), and clinical trials (for eligible patients).

The GenesisCare centre is located on the Ground Floor within Peninsula Private Hospital (PPH) and adds to the existing expansive cancer services available on-site and within the local healthcare provider network.

The team at GenesisCare includes a mix of highly trained healthcare professionals including radiation oncologists, Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC), registered nurses, radiation therapists, physicists, and a dedicated support team who share a common purpose: to design care experiences that deliver the best possible life outcomes.

We also offer patients access to a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) who helps to engage with each of the multidisciplinary clinical and speciality services at PPH including allied health, administration, and to support patients to navigate seamlessly through their personal cancer experience.

Our treatments and services

Radiation oncology

Radiation therapy uses high energy X-rays or other particles to treat cancer and can be used at all stages. Radiation therapy techniques available at our PPH centre may include Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Stereotactic Ablative Radiation Therapy (SABR), and specialised non-surgical treatment for non-melanoma skin cancer and some benign conditions.

Allied Health Services

At GenesisCare, PPH, we offer patients access to a range of allied health services (via referral to Ramsay Healthcare located at Beleura Private Hospital), all tailored to support their needs. A member of our treatment team will discuss the most suitable options with each patient. Allied health support services offered may include:

  • Occupational Therapist
  • Physiotherapist
  • Exercise Physiologist
  • Dietitian
  • Social work

Clinical Trials

At GenesisCare, we challenge ourselves every day to help find new and better ways to offer high-quality care, and we aim to deliver the best possible outcomes for our patients wherever we can.

Our PPH team may be able to offer you access to the GenesisCare network of clinical trials. For further information on clinical trial participation, please speak with the treating radiation oncologist.

Exercise therapy

Considerable research and clinical evidence has established that exercise may be beneficial for people with cancer; however, there is no one-size-fits-all approach.1,2 Every person’s circumstances are unique and these should be take into account. Tailored exercise programs designed by an exercise professional that include both aerobic and resistance training activities have been shown to provide benefits.3 To learn more about incorporating exercise during your cancer journey, please speak with your doctor and treatment team.
