Clinical interest in breast and genitourinary cancers.
Dr Julia Chen is a consultant Medical Oncologist with expertise in the treatment of breast and genitourinary cancers. She graduated with honours in Medicine from the University of New South Wales and undertook her internal medicine and medical oncology training at St George and Prince of Wales Hospitals. She subsequently completed a clinical research fellowship at the Kinghorn Cancer Centre, St Vincent’s Hospital, and went on to obtain her PhD at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where she investigated the biology of triple-negative breast cancer using advanced single-cell genomic and spatial technologies.
Dr Chen is a Staff Specialist at St George and Sutherland Hospitals and a Visiting Medical Officer at St George Private and Waratah Private Hospitals. She is an active member of the multidisciplinary teams for breast and genitourinary cancers at St George and Sutherland. In addition to her clinical work, she continues her research as a Translational Research Fellow at the Garvan Institute. A committed educator, she is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at UNSW and has supervised both basic and advanced physician trainees at St George Hospital.
