Dr Smith is a medical oncologist and a member of several medical and oncology associations and societies. She has a strong interest in clinical trials, professional development, teaching, and leadership.

Dr Jessica Smith is a graduate of the University of Sydney and has worked predominately in Western Sydney. Her expertise spans multiple cancer types, with a particular focus on skin, lung, breast, and gynaecological cancers. Dr Smith is a compassionate physician who practices high-quality, patient-centred care.

Dr. Smith values the importance of clinical trials in improving cancer outcomes and quality of life. She has experience as a principal and sub-investigator in clinical trials, spanning phase 1-3 clinical trials.

Beyond her clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Smith is engaged in professional advocacy and leadership. She has previously served as the national chair of the Young Oncologist Group, a subgroup of the Medical Oncology Group of Australia, where she advocated for the needs and interests of young oncologists nationwide.

Research interests

Dr Smith believes in harnessing clinical trials to improve healthcare outcomes and access to new developments for cancer patients. She is also interested in improving the well-being of the medical oncology speciality. As an active member of the Western Sydney University teaching team, she is also passionate about improving teaching in oncology for the next generation of doctors.
