Your home away from home in Bunbury
Apart from battling a cancer diagnosis, patients living outside metropolitan areas often face the additional burden of having to travel long distances for daily treatment, or finding accommodation closer to their cancer treatment centre.
Kalimera House, located in close proximity to the South West Health Campus in Bunbury, offers two modern and fully equipped units, each with 2- or 3-bedrooms, enabling families to stay together while a loved one is undergoing treatment. Children are also accepted.
GenesisCare Bunbury offers oncology services including radiation therapy. It is the first regional comprehensive cancer care service in Western Australia.

Other amenities per unit
TV, blu-ray DVD, CD radio player, stove, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, sandwich maker, cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, tea and coffee facilities, iron and ironing board, all cleaning equipment, towels and ample bed linen, split-system air conditioning, relaxing outdoor courtyards.
Book library, DVDs and games, barbecue, clothes line, bikes (on request), portable cot and high chair (on request).
Guests are expected to keep the units clean and tidy with the supplied cleaning equipment. Alternatively, the services of a cleaner can be arranged (fees apply).
Kalimera House is surrounded by lovely shady trees and a well maintained garden. There are two raised garden beds for guests to grow herbs, vegetables or flowers for their own use, or for the enjoyment of future guests.
Please supply your own food, toiletries, personal items and clothes – a shopping centre is a short drive away. By prior arrangement, guests requiring assistance with food shopping can be taken to the supermarket.
There is a double carport and additional space in the double driveway or on the verge.
Transport to and from treatment can be provided by Dot’s Place (Cancer Council).
Please advise in advance if transport assistance is required.
There are no fees for patients, and a carer or family member, who are eligible to receive a subsidy through the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS). The subsidy will cover the accommodation costs. Non-eligible PATS guests will be charged a flat rate of $60 per night per unit (subject to change).
