He commenced Medical Oncology practice via a public appointment at the Royal Adelaide Hospital with private clinics through the then Calvary Cancer Centre. He helped oversee the formation of an independent cancer service, North Adelaide Oncology (now named Adelaide Oncology & Haematology), based at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital and the redevelopment of Kimberley House into a new, self contained cancer unit.
