Dr Balendra is a locally trained Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist and Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Western Australia. He completed his undergraduate medical degree at Monash University and general medical training at Fremantle Hospital.
With broad experience across benign and malignant haematology, Dr Balendra manages patients with acute (in the public system) and chronic leukaemias, lymphoma, myeloma, myeloproliferative disorders, anaemia and other abnormal blood counts, thrombosis and iron disorders. He has active involvement in multiple clinical trials to give patients access to new exciting therapies.
He has a special interest in improving patient experience by utilising digital health platforms including artificial intelligence and creating shared care models with General Practitioners, Palliative Care and allied health professionals. He provides a compassionate, holistic approach to haematology care focused on the patient’s priorities.
Dr Balendra treats patients at Hollywood Private Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital.
Research interests
Dr Balendra has a special interest in the use of digital health platforms including artificial intelligence in patient care.
