Dr Eric Yong is a dual-trained specialist in General Medicine and Medical Oncology, recognised for his commitment to patient care, clinical research, and medical education.
Born and raised in Singapore, Dr. Yong pursued his medical degree at The University of Adelaide. Following his graduation, he completed his internship at The Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2014 and undertook both basic physician training and advanced training in General Medicine and Medical Oncology at the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN). He earned his Fellowship with The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in 2022. In 2024, he completed a Clinical Trials Fellowship in Medical Oncology at The Royal Adelaide Hospital, during which he participated in numerous research projects that further solidified his expertise in oncological management, particularly focusing on CAR-T cell therapy for patients with colorectal and recurrent glioblastoma after prior surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.
Dr. Yong holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Trials Research, with a research focus on significant areas in oncology, including lung, melanoma, and gastrointestinal cancers. His contributions to the field include investigations into immunotherapy and pleural effusions in lung cancer patients.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Yong operates across both public and private sectors, consulting on a broad range of general medicine and oncology issues. He serves as a public consultant physician at The Royal Adelaide Hospital and provides private inpatient care and consultations at Calvary Adelaide Hospital, Calvary North Adelaide Hospital, St Andrew’s Hospital, and Ashford Private Hospital.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he is an active educator at The University of Adelaide, serving as a lecturer and previously coordinating the fourth-year medical program.
Dr. Yong is dedicated to advancing the fields of General Medicine and Medical Oncology through continuous learning and collaboration. He actively engages in professional development and participates in various research initiatives aimed at improving therapeutic approaches in oncology. Through his multifaceted roles as a clinician, researcher, and educator, Dr. Eric Yong continues to make impactful contributions to the medical community.
Dr. Yong consults on all oncological issues, with particular clinical interests and subspecialty expertise in colorectal, lung, skin, and head and neck malignancies. He is fluent in English and Mandarin, providing consultations in both languages.
