Dr Mersiades is a Sydney-based Medical Oncologist who works at Northern Beaches Hospital and GenesisCare, Frenchs Forest.

He competed his medical training at the University of Sydney and medical oncology training and a clinical trials fellowship at the Crown Princess Mary Cancer Care Centre in Sydney with a focus on thoracic malignancies. 

He has worked as a Medical Oncologist at Riverina Cancer Care Centre and Manly Hospital prior to commencing at the Northern Beaches Hospital where he is head of oncology, and helped to establish a thriving public cancer treatment service and clinical trials unit. He leads a number of collaborative group and industry-led cancer trials at Northern Beaches Hospital, helping provide cancer treatment and opportunities for clinical trial participation to the people of the Northern Beaches, closer to home.

Dr Mersiades is a research fellow at the NHMRC clinical trials centre at the University of Sydney, with a focus on thoracic cancers and medicinal cannabis, and is involved in ongoing lung cancer research through involvement with the Thoracic Oncology Group of Australasia (TOGA).

Research interests

Clinical trials of new treatments for the management of thoracic cancers, including lung cancers and mesothelioma, involving new and existing immunotherapies, targeted therapies, chemotherapy, and combination therapies to improve patient outcomes.
