Dr Wong is currently a clinical and laboratory haematologist at Liverpool Hospital, where he has been working since 2024.
He completed his haematology training in 2017, having trained at Liverpool, Concord, and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals. He then completed a PhD in 2021 under the supervision of Prof . John Rasko at the Gene and Stem Cell Therapy Laboratory at the Centenary Institute. His work culminated in the creation of a bioinformatic tool, SpliceWiz, which detects alternative splicing in RNA. He was also part of a research team involved in the recent discovery of a second receptor for adeno-associated virus (AAV)—an essential discovery that will enable the development of safer and more efficient gene therapies.
