Cancer care focus at Redcliffe’s new Altiva Health centre
Moreton Bay, Queensland – The new Altiva Health facility has officially launched with one of Australia’s largest providers of cancer care, GenesisCare, also opening its doors.
Today, Altiva Health and GenesisCare marked a joint opening, giving local patients from the Redcliffe Peninsula access to a purpose-built radiation therapy clinic close to their homes as part of the $30 million Altiva Health medical facility by Allamanni Developments, which also includes one of Qscan's flagship medical imaging and radiology clinics.
Irina Monnier, Acquisitions Manager, Allamanni Developments, said: “It is a proud moment to officially open Altiva Health and see this purpose-built facility begin delivering an integrated healthcare offering, with key tenants GenesisCare and Qscan providing specialised cancer care and medical imaging services.”
Dr Marie Burke OAM, Queensland Medical Director, GenesisCare, said: “We are pleased to begin welcoming patients into GenesisCare’s new radiation therapy clinic at the Altiva Health facility in Redcliffe. Local patients now have the option of receiving treatment closer to their homes and within their community. This can make a meaningful difference to patients and their families during what is a difficult period of navigating a diagnosis, treatment schedules and commuting between appointments.”
“Our doors are open and our highly experienced doctor team and radiation therapy specialists are ready to support this community and local patients in their cancer journeys. We are proud to offer our patients access to a state-of-the-art Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator and the AlignRT surface-guided system at our new Redcliffe centre, which can deliver highly precise, image-guided radiation therapy treatment with sub-millimetre accuracy to patients across a wide range of tumour types.”
Honourable Tim Nicholls, Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, who spoke at the event, said: “The opening of the Altiva Health and GenesisCare radiation therapy centre in the rapidly growing Redcliffe and Moreton Bay community is an important milestone, as cancer patients can now receive their radiation therapy closer to home. The Crisafulli Government is also investing in the region through our Hospital Rescue Plan and record $35.5 billion health budget, to make it easier for Queenslanders to access health services where they need it. At Redcliffe Hospital, we’re delivering 255 new beds, expanded maternity services, additional operating theatres and improvements for patient and staff safety. Our investment into health services, along with facilities such as this, highlight the importance of collaboration to strengthen vital health services for local communities.”
More than 35,000 Queenslanders are diagnosed with cancer each year, most commonly with prostate, melanoma and breast cancers1. Modelling suggests that almost half of Australians (48.3%) diagnosed with cancer would benefit from radiation therapy2.
Allamanni identified a unique opportunity to deliver a much-needed healthcare facility on the 4,500-square-metre Altiva Health site. Its vision was to create a medical centre that goes beyond traditional healthcare delivery, bringing world-class, high-quality services together with a focus on better outcomes for patients.
“With one tenancy still available, there is an opportunity for another healthcare provider to further complement the centre’s services and support convenient, connected care for patients across the Redcliffe Peninsula,” said Ms Monnier.
