About SARA
What is SARA?

SARA (South Australian Rapid Access Lung Lesion Clinic) is designed to assist GPs to bridge the gap between suspected abnormalities and timely diagnosis of lung cancer. SARA brings specialised lung cancer triage services directly to you, ensuring that patients with suspected lung cancer or abnormalities detected during screening are quickly and efficiently assessed and treated by a multidisciplinary team of specialised doctors.
How does SARA work?
SARA coordinates care and treatment of your patient from referral to treatment. Via a cohesive referral pathway, SARA enables fast and easy access to a multidisciplinary team of specialists.

Who to refer?
Symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with CT results indicating abnormalities of the lungs.
How to refer?
Referring patients is quick and easy.
- Referrals can be made via Healthlink id: sarallca or by using our online referral form
- Alternatively, you may also download the referral form separately in editable PDF format and e-mail the referral to sara@genesiscare.com or fax it to (08) 8228 6797
- Once the referral is made, SARA’s medical team will arrange the next steps, including access to diagnostic services, ensuring rapid assessment and treatment.
- SARA will keep you informed with the patient’s diagnostic results, specialist referrals and treatment.

A/Prof. Rohit Joshi is a Medical Oncologist who works at private and public hospitals in Adelaide. He works with GenesisCare at Calvary and St. Andrew's Hospitals and is a Staff Specialist at the Lyell McEwin Hospital.
Rohit received his initial medical education at Christian Medical College in India and completed his Medical Oncology training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Rohit has a particular interest in breast and lung cancers. He is the Director at Cancer Research SA, conducting research across multiple tumour types through Phase I, II, and III studies.
In addition to his clinical work, Rohit is an Associate Professor at the University of Adelaide and University of South Australia, where he actively engages in the teaching and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Dr Vineet Kwatra completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2008 at the University of Adelaide. He completed basic physician training at Flinders Medical Centre followed by advanced training in medical oncology at Royal Adelaide Hospital and Calvary North Adelaide Hospital.
Vineet then completed his clinical research fellowship at Guy’s Hospital, London (2016-2018) gaining experiences in conducting cancer research in early phase clinical trial unit and lung cancer before returning to Adelaide in 2018. During this time, he has completed a master’s degree in molecular oncology.
He is a Director of Cancer Research SA (CRSA) and an active primary investigator for many international clinical trials. Vineet has authored and presented numerous article/poster publication in various conferences and reputable journals. He is co-chair at the lung cancer multidisciplinary meeting every fortnight through the private health system. Vineet holds a medical oncology consultant position at Lyell McEwin Hospital and is a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Adelaide. He is passionate about making a difference and helping improve cancer care.

Following training, Dr Kim was the Bragg Fellow at the Royal Adelaide Hospital for six months, before working as a Clinical and Research Fellow at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, Canada from 2018-2019. He had the great opportunity to work under supervisors who are world leaders in their corresponding fields. During this time, Dr Kim was actively involved in numerous protocol developments and research projects.
Dr Kim returned to Adelaide in 2019 to continue his career as a Consultant Radiation Oncologist, joining the team at GenesisCare.
Recognition for Dr Kim has included the Professor Derek Frewin AO Citation for Clinical Training Award.
He is a strong advocate for Radiation Oncology and is passionate about improving awareness and accessibility to radiation therapy treatment within the cancer community.

Prof. Leung has been in Adelaide since 1996, and working as a Director/Partner at Adelaide Radiotherapy Centre (now GenesisCare) since 1997. He is also a consultant radiation oncologist for Flinders Medical Centre.
Prof Leung is active both academically and with his clinical workload. He is the current Chief Examiner for Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. He is also the Deputy Chief Censor of the College. He was previously the Chief Accreditation Officer for the College. He has been an examiner for the College for many years and the lead examiner in a number of series. He was the main workforce adviser for the Economic Workforce Committee and a Director of Training for many years. He is also an associate editor for the national journal and is a keen teacher for trainees approaching their phase 2 examinations.
Prof Leung has a particular interest in workforce issues and has published a number of peer review papers, including the only two workforce Census’ this century, the only trainees survey, Directors of training study, and more recently stress, satisfaction and burnout articles on radiation oncologists and also trainees. He is the sole or principal author on these subjects. He has also published on clinical areas such as spinal cord compression, pancreatic, lung and prostate cancer.
He has a broad clinical interest in nearly all areas of radiation oncology, however he is especially active in urological, lung, and GI cancers, plus soft tissue sarcomas and palliative care.

He has experience in palliative medicine and was awarded a Clinical Diploma of Palliative Medicine through the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2016, prior to starting training in radiation oncology in 2017 at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Dr McNeil also has an interest in clinical research and was awarded a Master of Public Health through Monash University in 2019.
Dr McNeil was selected as the Dr Elzbieta Rosnowska-Perera and Dr Norbert Perera Clinical Research Fellow in Thoracic Radiation Oncology at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada, a position he undertook in 2022 after the completion of his specialist radiation oncology training. He continues his involvement in a range of research projects with oncologists at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

While there he gained experience and a greater understanding about different radiation therapy techniques to treat a range of tumour types including prostate, breast, and lung cancers, plus the development of clinical protocols and clinical research.
Dr Sappiatzer commenced as a Consultant Radiation Oncologist with GenesisCare in 2014. He has maintained his strong clinical interest in treating prostate, breast and lung cancer, and also treats gastrointestinal, brain and spine, head and neck, skin cancer, and benign conditions such as Dupuytren’s Contracture. He was recognised by the South Australian Hand Surgery Society at their Annual Scientific Meeting with the Dodridge Prize for best paper presented.
Dr Sappiatzer attends a wide range of private and public multidisciplinary meetings, with the aim being to help offer best possible clinical outcomes to patients. He is the Chair of the St Andrews Urological Oncology Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Dr Greg Rice graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1999 and completed surgical residency in Adelaide, before undertaking training in cardiothoracic surgery at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, and at Westmead Hospital and Children’s Hospital Westmead, Sydney, from 2005 to 2010.
During this time, he completed a Master of Surgery research higher degree at Flinders University. In 2010 and 2011, Dr Rice was a senior clinical fellow in cardiac surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, USA, where he gained experience in complex cardiac surgery and minimally invasive valve surgery. He returned to Adelaide in 2012 and was appointed as a staff specialist in cardiothoracic surgery at Flinders Medical Centre in July 2012. In 2015, he and Professor Jayme Bennetts established Adelaide Cardiothoracic.
Dr Rice undertakes a wide range of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, including coronary artery surgery, valve replacement and repair (including minimally invasive procedures), aortic surgery, atrial arrhythmia surgery, and both open and video-assisted thoracic surgery. He has a particular interest in surgery for complex aortic disease, and in 2017 he established the Aortic Multidisciplinary Team at Flinders Medical Centre, working with vascular surgeons and other specialists in the management of patients with aortic aneurysms.

Dr Greg Rice graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1999 and completed surgical residency in Adelaide, before undertaking training in cardiothoracic surgery at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, and at Westmead Hospital and Children’s Hospital Westmead, Sydney, from 2005 to 2010.
During this time, he completed a Master of Surgery research higher degree at Flinders University. In 2010 and 2011, Dr Rice was a senior clinical fellow in cardiac surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, USA, where he gained experience in complex cardiac surgery and minimally invasive valve surgery. He returned to Adelaide in 2012 and was appointed as a staff specialist in cardiothoracic surgery at Flinders Medical Centre in July 2012. In 2015, he and Professor Jayme Bennetts established Adelaide Cardiothoracic.
Dr Rice undertakes a wide range of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, including coronary artery surgery, valve replacement and repair (including minimally invasive procedures), aortic surgery, atrial arrhythmia surgery, and both open and video-assisted thoracic surgery. He has a particular interest in surgery for complex aortic disease, and in 2017 he established the Aortic Multidisciplinary Team at Flinders Medical Centre, working with vascular surgeons and other specialists in the management of patients with aortic aneurysms.

Dr Siew Ung Wong graduated from University of Melbourne in 2006. Dr Siew Ung Wong graduated from University of Melbourne in 2006. He completed his dual specialty training in Respiratory Medicine / Acute and General Medicine from various teaching hospitals in Adelaide, including 6 months of palliative care medicine training. He became a fellow with Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2016. He holds the position of Associate Clinical Lecturer with the University of Adelaide. He then undertook Clinical Fellowship in interventional pulmonology involving advanced bronchoscopy (endobronchial ultrasound, bronchial thermoplasty) and pleuroscopy at the National University Hospital Singapore.
Dr Wong is a member of several national and international thoracic societies. He thrives for the provision of comprehensive care to all his patients ranging from diagnosis, treatment, surveillance as well as supportive care pathway. He sees a broad range of respiratory illness and sleep disorders, with special interest in COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, interventional pulmonology, lung cancer and pleural diseases management.
