Importance of early detection

Early detection is key for breast cancer survival and an annual mammogram is essential in protecting yourself. As the nation’s largest network of radiation oncologists, surgeons (including breast surgeons) and related specialists, our access to the latest technology and research knows no bounds.

The American Cancer Society recommends

  1. Women ages 40-44

should start screening with a mammogram every year.

  2. Women between 45-54

should get a mammogram every year.

  3.  Women 55+

can switch to a mammogram every other year, or they can choose to continue yearly mammograms. Screening should continue as long as a woman is in good health and is expected to live 10 more years or longer.
