Overview
Dr. Thomas J. Shaknovsky grew up in the Midwest and attended Loyola University Chicago for his undergraduate degree. During his sophomore year of college, Dr. Shaknovsky joined the U.S. Army and continues to serve in the rank of Major today. He received his medical degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. During his medical training, Dr. Shaknovsky developed a passion for helping patients overcome their ailments with surgical intervention. He completed general surgery residency at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Dr. Shaknovsky has been practicing general surgery for the past four years in Southeast Alabama. Having spent time on Florida’s Emerald Coast through various military training exercises, Dr. Shaknovsky is now excited to relocate to the area and continue his surgical practice. Dr. Shaknovsky is active in clinical research and has authored many scientific papers. He performs a wide variety of surgical procedures with extensive training in minimally invasive/robotic surgery, endoscopy, wound care and dialysis access.
He is married with three kids and in his free time enjoys outdoor activities with his family such as fishing and hiking. He strives to provide his patients compassionate care and has a philosophy of “putting his patients’ needs above all else”. Dr. Shaknovsky believes that the best surgical outcomes are achieved by a combination of “a strong interpersonal relationship between patient and surgeon, superior surgical skill and prayer”.
