Overview
Dr. Christopher DiBlasio is board-certified in urology/urologic surgery located in Fort Myers, Florida. Previously located in New York for the first 14 years of his practice, Dr. Chris was born and raised in Long Island, New York.
Dr. DiBlasio strives to provide compassionate and contemporary urologic care to his clients. He specializes in minimally-invasive surgery for urinary stones, prostate laser surgery and prostate/kidney cryoablation. He performs in-office or ambulatory-based “No-scalpel, no suture vasectomy”, and has been sought after for his vasectomy approach and the patient experience by many patients as well as health-care professionals.
Several years ago, Dr. Chris adopted a different approach to prostate biopsy, employing MRI-fusion technology through a TRANSPERINEAL Prostate Biopsy approach, avoiding the risk of infection and the need for bowel prep or post procedural antibiotics. With his experience through this approach, he pioneered and specializes in “MRI-fusion guided cryoablation of the prostate” for prostate cancer, an outpatient, cutting-edge evolution in personalized prostate cancer treatment whereby the cancer can be treated without treatment or removal of the entire prostate; thus minimizing potential risks, side effects and recovery time. This technique has become useful for patients with unifocal disease, as well as for patients requiring SALVAGE CRYOABLATION FOR RECURRENCE AFTER RADIATION for prostate cancer. Further, he has extensive experience in female prolapse and incontinence repair, stone surgery, urologic cancer treatment, cosmetics and reconstruction, trauma, and renal transplantation.
“Dr. Chris” completed his internship (general surgery/trauma) and residency training in urology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center (Memphis), as well as a research fellowship in urologic oncology at New York’s renowned Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. DiBlasio has served as the only center of excellence for holmium-laser based prostate surgery (HOLAP/HOLEP: holmium laser ablation/enucleation of the prostate) in the Northeast tri-state area and has performed well over 1500 HOLEP procedures to date. He serves as a proctor and preceptor for HOLAP/HOLEP, as well as for prostate and kidney cryosurgery. He has served as a board member for the COLD registry, a panel of thought-leaders in the field of cryosurgery as well as held numerous leadership positions in other medical committees and Board of Directors positions. To date, he has published 37 peer-reviewed articles, 85 abstracts and presented 39 times at national and sectional meetings of the American Urological Association, Society of Urologic Oncology, American Urogynecologic Society and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
He has served as Chief of Urology at Northwell Health at Huntington Hospital (NY) and then as Associate Medical Director for the renowned Mount Sinai Health System, assisting with management of Long Island operations after which he became Urology Division Director for Prohealth Care, Suffolk County operations. In 2021, Dr. DiBlasio was recruited to Genesis Care in Fort Myers, Fl where he assumes leadership and clinical roles where he strives to provide comprehensive, contemporary, and compassionate care for his patients at his Fort Myers office located at 4571 Colonial Blvd, Ste 110, Fort Myers, 33966.
