Clinical interests in breast and gynaecological cancers.
Dr Pittman is a graduate of the University of Adelaide (1985) and undertook his internship, basic physician training and advanced physician training in Medical Oncology at Royal Adelaide Hospital. Medical Oncology training was completed whilst undertaking laboratory molecular oncology research for his MD thesis at St. James's University Hospital in Leeds, England (1991–93). He returned to Australia in 1993 to become Director of Medical Oncology at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Queensland.
He returned to Adelaide and from 1998 until 2018 he was Director of Medical Oncology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woodville and Visiting Medical Oncologist at Royal Adelaide Hospital. He also held the title of Clinical Associate Professor within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Adelaide.
As a partner of Adelaide Oncology and Haematology, Dr Pittman consults at Calvary Hospital - North Adelaide, Western Hospital, Henley Beach and St Andrews Medical Centre, Adelaide.
Dr Pittman is a member of numerous national and international Oncology societies and is also a member of several national cancer advisory boards. He has published widely on various oncological research and clinical topics, predominantly involving breast cancer, thoracic cancer, gynaecological cancer and genitourinary cancer. Dr Pittman’s current main area of interest is breast cancer.
